location is the only thing deserving 4 stars, close to the ring (Schottentor), 10-20 minutes to several attractions, old town (insie the ring) and the university, lots of bars and restaurants in the vicinity, tram and U-bahn closeby. the rest of the hotel maybe deserves 3 stars - which is just ok for us, just to let other, maybe more demanding travellers know. Clean enough, with garage below the hotel for 15€ per night, and decent breakfast. The reception is on the 2nd floor, but there is a lift. have read some quite bad reviews regarding the poorly kept rooms - but we have been lucky to get a decent one (22), close to the reception and breakfast room. a girl at the reception did not speak english enough to be able so explain how the garage functions and where it is - so she went with me downstairs and showed me - so no complaint really; also other staff have maybe been a bit reserved, but still kind enough and helpful. Maybe we have been missing kettle to boil the watter / prepare a coffee in the room.

Reasonable hotel in an expensive city with good location and nice breakfast

I feared the worst after reading some reviews on here, but the hotel was fine. A good location, large clean room, plentiful buffet breakfast and staff who were appt to answer questions. Vienna is an expensive city so you have to accept that or not go. My major negative would be the hotel is noisy as on a team route but that’s obvious from the map and has its benefits too.

From the decrepit entrance lobby & lift, through the disinterested receiption person, tiny TV, out-of-use hairdryer, maid that forgot to clean our room, non-existent security for left luggage & constant noise from the passing trams, "excellence" is a word that was seldom used during our stay. The location was convenient for certain areas of the City University & the Rathaus Xmas market, but other main attractions were a 20-30 min walk away. 4* it was not. 2 1/2 would have been more accurate. Not cheap either.

the good: - walkable distance to all attractions within the ring road, votivkirche 700m, stephansplatz 1.9km, karlskirche 2.8km. for those that don't like to walk, fortunately, uber works great in vienna! - good wifi the bad: - a/c didn't work well, seemed to be set and controlled centrally, the remote in room didn't do a thing. staff was polite and wasn't able to fix anything. but i did feel that a/c in vienna else where, shops, airport, etc., all seemed to be under powered as well. - facilities seem to be old and not updated for a long while, therefore the price/quality ratio is low on my scale.

It was bad, the bed was broken. The sofa was bad to sleep on. Please paint the wall. Bad air-condition, it was hair on the floor. NOT A 4* HOTEL, NEVER GONNA STAY HERE AGAIN IF I COME BACK... ok bye :=(
